Jim Thoele obtains a directed verdict for hospital
Jim Thoele obtained a directed verdict for a hospital and the jury returned a nominal award against a nurse in a case wherein plaintiff alleged improper access of an electronic hospital record by a nurse that was not providing care to plaintiff. Inadvertent access of the electronic record was admitted when the nurse attempted to locate the patient’s room number. Plaintiff sought damages for breach of privacy and emotional distress.
